Vintage AVEM Murano Glass Clam Vase Wow, this vintage piece is a real stunner! Here is an exquisite 1950/60's Venetian glass clam shaped vase, made on the island of  Murano , near Venice, Italy. This piece was made by  AVEM (Arte Vetraria Muranese) , and believed to be pattern number  13343 . The design is shown in the book  "AVEM, Arte Vetraria Muranese, Artistic Production 1932 - 1972"  by Marc Heiremans, page 217. Consists of opal white  lattimo  glass filled with silver leaf inclusions, with an outer layer of black (or red?) glass, all of which is then encased in clear glass. The vase is designed with two flat "bases", which allow it to be displayed vertically or at an angle. Great vintage condition. There is a small scratch on the bottom near one base.
