Nicely rebound in quarter red calf over marbled boards, spine gilt-stamped with black morocco label, lettered in gilt and says "Sketches."  Octavo. (Measures 6 x 4.5 "). Beautifully illustrated with 38 original drawings, including 5 in color and two in ink, the remainder are in pencil. This id definitely a schooled hand with a sharp talent and technique, even if some are not the artist's own imagery such as the Alice. (I suppose if I didn't have the internet, tv, phone, kids and a job I could be a good sketcher as well). No doubt, this artist had a genuine talent, worthy of the "fine" binding.
