The Guitar
This a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Custom.
The Story
This guitar left the factory as a Black 3 Pickup Les Paul Black Beauty with a factory Bigsby.
At one point in its life it was stripped to the Mahogany and finished in clear gloss.
The middle pickup was removed and the middle section was professional filled. There is a very faint line between the pickup rings to shown this. Very pro job.
The bigsby has a repair at one point. Never had a stop bar fitted.
The neck and bridge pickup are original PAFs. The bridge pickup has had one bobbin replaced and was rewound my Kent Armstrong in the 70s or so.
The guitar had non original pickup rings so i sourced the originals.
The guitar was taken to a shop int he 70/80s to have the pots looked at and all them were replaced when i got it however i have installed a period correct set of 1959 pots and caps.
The Tuners are originals.
The guitar had 2 neck repairs and the 2nd time they rebuilt the back of the headstock (Original headstock included).
There is a serial on the back which isnt original and ment something to the 2nd owner.
The guitar has had a refret and at that time they replaced the binding to keep the nibs. Very professional.
