This National Geographic Society map of ‘The Peoples of Africa’ and, on the reverse, of ‘The Heritage of Africa’ is of a scale of “230 miles to the inch” and is dated December 1971.

It has been owned from new, as whenever a close family friend obtained a map with his National Geographic Magazine he gave it to me. And, as a schoolboy with a thirst for knowledge I enjoyed looking at them and learning while then putting them to one side where they were useful for future school projects etc. – oh those halcyon schooldays of the 1960’s and 1970’s before the internet!

After moving out of the family home they ended up in a box in the attic of my parents’ house, which I am now clearing, and remained there for the next 40 plus years until I recently unearthed them!

This map (like all the others I will be listing in due course) is in very good/excellent condition, with no tears, stains, writing or graffiti on it.

This map when opened out measures 72cm x 58cm and is a double-sided item – each side featuring a different map of Africa with lots of annotations – as can be seen on the attached photographs.
