Seller: crawfishpie (161) 100%, Location: Poole, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 302052501960 A 1930s Smiths Sectric Clock / Cream Bakelite Clock / Electric Clock / Vintage Lounge Clock / Vintage Kitchen Clock / Vintage Home Decor / Horology / Analogue Electric Clock An iconic 1930's Smiths Sectric Bakelite electric clock which was made in England along with half of the original Bakelite plug. The clock has an iconic Art Deco shaping to the corners and the hands. There is a red second hand. This model is powered by the Bijou motor which was used from 1938 until circa 1958. It was considered the workhorse of Smiths electric clocks. The case is 6 3/8 inches square. The handset knob protrudes from the base which is really useful. If only modern clocks had the handset knob at the bottom. Apparently the clock was tested with a 3 pin plug and was fully working, although that was only word of mouth. As with all electricals, it should be checked over by a qualified electrician before use. I am not able to say if it is a self-starting clock but on some clocks they just need a nudge on the handset knob go get them going. It is in good condition except for a some discoloration but otherwise it is in fine fettle for the age. It would be a super addition to any collection, excellent display or practical piece or authentic period or stage prop.
