Original post-WW1 British map entitled "THE BATTLEFIELD OF LE CATEAU, 26th AUGUST, 1914" (MILITARY BRANCH, OS HISTORICAL SECTION) which came from an official British military archive which was closed down around twenty years ago.
Please note, this map was compiled for studying the FIRST BATTLE OF THE AISNE (1914), and was produced by the MILITARY BRANCH of the Ordnance Survey's Historical Section. Presumably this was for British Army Officer Training purposes rather than public sale, although such publications did also exist for the civilian market.
One of small print run of only 3,075 undertaken in 1933 from an earlier edition (1920).
Measures approximately 67cm x 48cm.
The map has never been folded so it will be sent rolled in a tube.
