Reverse:  Crowned cruciform shields of arms, plain angles, legend around

Features and Provenance:  George II (1683-1760) succeeded to the English throne on the death of his father, George I in 1727. H e  was the last English monarch to have been born outside Great Britain, being a Hanoverian.  There must have been a strain of obstinacy in the family; a t one point, he argued so bitterly with his father that he was banned from the palace altogether and spent much of his time in Germany.

Condition Summary . This varies with the age of coin and there are grades between

Uncirculated (U).  As struck with no traces of wear

Extremely Fine (EF).  Very slight traces of wear, all parts of legend etc present, visible and clear

Very Fine (VF).  Some signs of wear on the higher parts of the relief, all parts of legend etc present, but maybe worn

Fine (F).  Wear on the coin and parts of legend etc may be missing or not visible
